Growing One Another

1 Thessalonians 2:1-20

How do we help others grow spiritually?

  1. We love others sacrificially

    • We love genuinely

    • We give ourselves (this means life-on-life)

    • We make their good our ultimate goal

  2. We give one another God’s Word

    • We talk about Jesus (the Gospel) …a lot

    • We teach how to live for Jesus in everyday life

    • We understand that God transforms people through His Word

Where can I start?

  1. Commit to deep friendships in the church and with non-Christians

  2. Lovingly serve these people

  3. Share a struggle in your life and ask how you can pray for them

  4. Be intentional together: plan times when you will talk about how God is speaking to you through His Word

Now What?

1 Corinthians 16:1-24

How Can I Stay Faithful?
Five Principles for Staying Faithful in Living for Christ, His Church, and His Mission:

  1. Discipline yourself to give (for the sake of the Church and Her mission)

  2. Invest your life into people

  3. Don’t give up living for Jesus

  4. Submit to and respect servant-leaders

  5. Treasure Christian friendships

Resurrection: This Changes Everything

1 Corinthians 15:12-34

  1. If Jesus didn’t rise then all is lost… (vv. 12-19)

    1. Faith in Christ would be worthless

    2. Jesus and the Apostles would be liars

    3. Our sins would remain

    4. There would be no hope beyond the grave

    5. We would labor in vain

  2. But He is risen and brings cosmic change… (vv. 20-28)

  3. So set sin aside and live for Jesus. (vv. 29-34)

Sign Gifts: Aiming for Edification

1 Corinthians 14:1-25

  1. We should seek spiritual gifts, especially those that edify the body with truth

  2. Tongues have communal value only when interpreted

  3. Seeking tongues is not a sign of spiritual maturity; seeking gifts that serve and build up others is

  4. Tongues are a sign, but prophecy changes hearts
