The Blessings on God’s People
(Balaam and Balak)

Bible Story Summary:

  • King Balak wanted Balaam to curse God’s people.

  • The angel of the Lord stopped Balaam on his way to King Balak.

Balaam could not curse God’s people, God has blessed the Israelites, so Balaam blessed them too. Long after Balaam announced the coming king, Jesus was born. God sent Jesus to bless the world. Jesus rescues people from sin.

What does it mean to sin? To sin is to go against God and His commandments.

  • Visit a petting zoo. Feed and pet the donkeys. Talk about Balaam’s donkey that talked.

  • Parents, write and speak a blessing over each of your children.


Younger Kids

Bible Story Summary:

  • Balak, the king of Moab, hired a man named Balaam to curse God’s people.

  • God sent an angel to stop Balaam, but only Balaam’s donkey could see the angel.

  • Balaam was very angry until God revealed the angel to Balaam.
